The Vehicle Wrapping Academy (TVWA) is a specialist vehicle customisation and vocational training company offering a unique approach to Alternative Provision.

Originally established in Essex, TVWA is an Approved Provider of Education for Essex County Council and is proud to offer young people across Essex the opportunity to learn through practical, creative and industry-focused education.

Our approach is simple: learn by doing.

Rather than sitting in a traditional classroom, students are introduced to a real working environment where they can develop practical skills, confidence, independence and an understanding of the world of work.

Industry Accreditation

We are excited to be at the forefront of a new accreditation coming to the vehicle wrapping industry.

Through our Alternative Provision, each young person will have the opportunity to work towards an IMI accreditation in Vehicle Wrapping, giving them the chance to work towards an industry-recognised qualification while developing practical skills in a real-world environment.

This provides students with more than practical experience — it gives them an opportunity to begin building a recognised vocational pathway into the vehicle wrapping industry.

What is Vehicle Wrapping?

Vehicle wrapping is the process of applying specialist vinyl film to a vehicle to change or enhance its appearance without the need for a permanent paint respray.

Vinyl can be used to completely change the colour or finish of a vehicle, create bespoke designs and graphics, or provide additional protection to the original paintwork.

It is a highly skilled trade requiring patience, precision, creativity and attention to detail — and these are skills that students can develop through practical, hands-on learning.

The vehicle wrapping and wider vehicle customisation industry continues to provide opportunities for people with practical and creative skills.

At TVWA, we don’t just want students to complete a course and leave with a certificate. We want to help them understand where their skills could take them.

For students who demonstrate the commitment and ability, opportunities can include:

Our aim is to introduce young people to a genuine industry environment and help them see a potential pathway into a career.

Learning Goes Beyond Vinyl

While vehicle wrapping and graphics are at the heart of our provision, students also develop a broad range of transferable skills.

For example, practical sessions naturally incorporate basic maths and numeracy, including measuring materials, calculating dimensions, converting units of measurement and working accurately to specifications.
